Adolescent Care
The Government funds the cost of routine care and maintenance for adolescents until their 18th birthday. Until high school age this care is usually provided through the Community Oral Health Service dental clinics. Once students start high school their dental care is normally undertaken by private dental practices who hold a Government funded contract.
This care includes:

one free check-up and clean per 12 month period

diagnostic x-rays as required
-
restorative treatment as required
-
extractions as required (excluding for orthodontic purposes)

emergency care
The Government funded contract excludes:
-
part-charges relating to ACC treatment
-
treatment relating to orthodontic care
